Space Administrator Reordering Pages

This guide outlines the procedure for administrators to access and manage the order of pages within a designated space using the Space Administrator interface. This functionality allows for the logical arrangement of content to enhance user experience and navigation.

Accessing the Space Administrator

To access the Space Administrator page:

  1. Navigate to the Space Administrator menu item in the left navigation panel.
  2. Select the Guide Reorder Page sub-menu to display the page reordering interface.

Understanding the Page Reorder Interface 📝

The interface presents a structured view of the pages within a space, typically in a hierarchical format if nested pages exist. The primary interaction on this screen involves reordering pages through drag-and-drop functionality.

Reordering Pages ⚙️

To reorder pages:

  1. On the Space Administrator > Guide Reorder Page screen, locate the list of pages.
  2. Click and hold the drag handle (often represented by a set of dots or a similar icon) next to the page you wish to move.
  3. Drag the page to its desired an existing page location within the hierarchy.
  4. Release the mouse button to drop the page into the new position.
  5. The system automatically saves the new order, ensuring the changes are immediately reflected across the platform.

No Direct Add, Edit, or Delete Operations on this Screen 🚫

It is important to note that the Space Administrator > Guide Reorder Page screen is exclusively for adjusting the display order of existing pages. It does not provide functionality to:

  • Add New Pages: Pages are created elsewhere within the GimCore system (e.g., via a 'Pages' management section).
  • ✏️ Edit Page Properties: Page titles, content, or other properties are modified through their respective editing interfaces.
  • 🗑️ Delete Pages: Page deletion is performed in the dedicated page management sections to prevent accidental data loss.

Administrators must use the appropriate sections of GimCore for creating, editing, and deleting pages. This dedicated reordering feature streamlines the process of organizing existing content without conflating it with content management tasks.
