Audit Logs Management

The Audit Logs screen provides administrators with a comprehensive chronological record of system activities, user actions, and changes made within the GimCore platform. This feature is crucial for maintaining security, compliance, and accountability by allowing administrators to track who did what, and when.

Accessing Audit Logs ⚙️

To access the Audit Logs, navigate to the System menu in the left navigation pane and select Audit logs.

Understanding the Audit Logs Data Table 📋

The main area of the Audit Logs screen displays a data table listing all recorded audit entries. Each entry provides detailed information about a specific event. The columns in the data table are:

  • ID: A unique identifier for the audit log entry.
  • User: The user (username or ID) who performed the action.
  • Time: The timestamp when the action was performed.
  • Event: A description of the event or action that occurred.
  • Application: The application within GimCore where the event took place.
  • Entity: The specific entity (e.g., user, role, app) affected by the action.
  • Attribute: The particular attribute or property of the entity that was modified.
  • Old Value: The value of the attribute before the change.
  • New Value: The value of the attribute after the change.
  • IP Address: The IP address from which the action originated.

Searching and Filtering Audit Logs 🔍

To efficiently locate specific audit entries, utilize the search and filter functionalities:

  • Search Bar: Located above the data table, the search bar allows you to filter the displayed logs by entering keywords. The system will search across all relevant fields (User, Event, Application, Entity, Attribute, Old Value, New Value, IP Address) to find matching entries.

Exporting Audit Logs 📤

To export the current view of audit logs for external analysis or record-keeping, click the Export button located in the page header. This will download a file containing the audit data, typically in a CSV or Excel format, reflecting any applied search or filter criteria.

Deleting Audit Logs 🗑️

Note: The system is designed to retain all audit logs for historical and compliance purposes. There are no direct UI controls for administrators to manually delete individual or bulk audit log entries from this screen. Log retention policies are typically configured at a system level by the GimCore platform administrators or through automated routines. This ensures the integrity and completeness of the audit trail.

Adding, Editing, or Updating Audit Logs 🚫

Audit logs are automatically generated by the GimCore system in response to user actions and system events. They are immutable records and cannot be directly added, edited, or updated by administrators through the user interface. This design principle ensures the tamper-proof nature of the audit trail, guaranteeing its reliability for security and compliance audits.
